August WSLL playoff - winners of Zone A - Bookham vs Zone B – Knaphill

The ladies have never won the zone A league so a great achievement. Over the last few years Bookham have come second behind Cranleigh.

A finals playoff is then held against the winners of zone B which this year was Knaphill. The match consisting of 2 triples, played at Cranleigh BC on a warm August evening.

Bookham started well on both rinks but Knaphill started to win on one rink and Bookham on the other. The overall score after 17 ends Bookham 29 Knaphill  27 so only 2 points difference.

On the last end Knaphill won by 1 point on both rinks so an overall draw.

Confusion ensued first of all both rinks needed to play an extra end then it was decided only one rink needed to play. A coin was tossed and a rink was chosen. Bookham lost the mat so had no control over the jack. Unfortunately, Knaphill won by one point making Bookham the runners up.

A good evening but disappointing outcome.

Bookham now have a shield for winners of zone A and a certificate.
