The second Bookham Invitation Day for mixed rinks teams attracted entries from Ashtead, Albury, East Horsley, Epsom Park, Esher and Woking Park bowls clubs. They were welcomed by the Bookham Ladies and Men's Captains before handing over proceedings to the main organiser Steve Edmonds. The visiting teams each played each of the 6 Bookham teams in a 6 end match with the target being 36 ends for the day. However the visiting teams did not compete against Bookham, but rather 'fought' between themselves for the Jack Clatworthy Cup, whilst the Bookham teams were ranked for their own separate prize.
The day started off sunny but as time moved on so cloud rolled in from the north trapping the warm air below, so that throughout the matches it was never below 22 deg C. Play was interspersed with a ploughman's lunch and at the end was rounded off with a 2 course hot meal. The bar was open throughout to help quench the thirsts of the 48 players on the green.
There was some excellent bowling on display, with Bookham teams placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th, but no more so than from Albury Bowling Club who deservedly were awarded the Jack Clatworthy Cup for the year until they defend their winning position in 2020.
