Teams from the Swans, Puffins, Elmgrove and Crawley played against Bookham BC teams in their annual afternoon of friendly competition yesterday. The weather forecast had been fine but then in the morning the heavens opened to dampen preparations. However by the afternoon sun and warmth returned for 14 ends of bowling.
Once again the Leatherhead Swans scored the highest shot difference to retain the Bill Bloxall / Jack Blow Cup. This year at the very last minute their skip dropped out and so was replaced by a former Bookham captain who did help with their success. This was much to the (mild) annoyance of the opposing Bookham team, but it did not detract from the other 3 Swans' performances contributing to the result.
The afternoon was rounded off with a delightful tea of sandwiches and cakes and expressions of looking forward to next year's match.
