Following last year's success, and after a little "encouragement" from Steve Collyer and I, we assembled 5 pairs of 1st and 2nd year bowlers for another Beginners Tournament.
Most appeared nervous at the prospect of what was, for most, their first competitive outing, but nerves were soon relaxed once the action started.
The 5 teams each played 16 ends (4 matches of 4 ends each) on n pleasant afternoon only punctuated by a dramatic 15 minute thunderous downpour, after which we were treated to the most dramatic double rainbow'
A highly competitive encounter ensued with the result still very much in doubt until the final match.
Three teams finished jointly with 4 points but the eventual winners, with 6 points, were Sue Ferguson and Philip Spooner. Huge congratulations to both of them.
Special thanks to Steve Collyer for his hard work throughout the process, Susan Mullins for her considerable patience on the day, Lesley Collyer for standing in for one missing competitor, Paul Hartley for setting up the bar and for those members who came along to support.
Feedback after the match and since reveals the fact that all involved had a great experience.
